We are now into week 5 of the ORC and normally everyone would be in absolute scramble mode but this year marks the very first year the ORC has been extended to 7 weeks, owing to the unusual number of natural disasters that are causing upheavals in delivery time. SO, that gives me an extra week to add some final touches to my master bedroom project. This week I get to talk about accessories.
In the last few weeks of my master bedroom refresh I have planned, re-painted and DIY’ed, and now I’m ready to make things look pretty. This is the fun stuff. As you may know, I absolutely love the work of designer Amber Lewis. I am always checking out her projects for ideas, and I think I’ve come up with a general formula for her style:
-Nothing too trendy.
-Lots of neutrals – nothing too colourful
-Keep things light and airy
-Let the eye flow around the room with a perfect combination of light and dark, masculine and feminine, and…
-Use natural elements (plants, woven rugs, baskets, handmade pillows and blankets) throughout
One of my inspiration pics:
She makes it look so easy, but it’s just the perfect amount of visual tension in everything she does. The end result is a look that is timeless.
My accessory selections:
I still can’t decide between the black flush mount (upper left) and this white and gold one:
Any input would be appreciated! (All sources will be listed in the final reveal).
Apart from some miscellaneous items (frames, books, etc.) that’s it for accessories. My goal was to keep it as “Amber Lewis” as possible so lots of neutrals, lightness, texture and visual tension.
Next week would normally be the reveal; instead I’ll feature some of the last few details needed to make this room look awesome.
